If you're a student looking for ways to get more involved in sustainability on and off campus, look no further than NJIT's many student organizations!
These are some of the many student organizations at NJIT whose work serves as an example of how we can work towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in our daily lives. Many of these organizations organize a mixture of community service and on-campus engagement/events, building an ethos of sustainability in its members and the greater NJIT and Newark community.
NJIT GreenNJIT Green is a student-led initiative to bring sustainability to NJIT. The team behind the movement is working to build relationships among students, faculty and staff to promote green choices and practices on an institutional scale. |

Girl UpGirl Up at NJIT is a United Nations based organization working to empower women across the world, because no country can truly develop with half of the population left behind. |

Engineers Without BordersEngineers Without Borders USA (EWB-USA) is an organization that partners with communities to meet their basic human needs. Student members in this organization help to build the foundation for communities to thrive for years to come, whether it be by building footbridges or installing solar panels across communities |

Students for Hunger ReliefStudents for Hunger Relief (SFHR) organizes large-scale, on-campus initiatives to address hunger in Newark and connect NJIT students to the surrounding community. Their initiatives involve working with external charitable organizations to acquire food and then holding on-campus packing events where volunteers prepare hundreds of meals. |

Habitat for HumanityHabitat for Humanity is an international organization that helps organize, design, and construct affordable housing for people in need. The NJIT chapter of Habitat for Humanity sends student volunteers to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Fairfield, NJ and to build sites organized by the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark organization. Volunteers help out at the ReStore by organizing donated items, assembling flat pack furniture, and helping customers find what they need, and they get hands-on experience at the build sites by performing construction-related tasks such as installing flooring or painting walls. |
